Driving to Lake Annecy.

We left Dijon-Prenois after lots of goodbyes to drive to Lake Annecy, near Geneva on the French side of the Alps.

As we neared the mountains, the rain set in again, with mist sitting in the deep folds of the hills and mountains.

We drove over an amazing sequence of viaducts that swept across deep vallies, lakes and rivers. Interspersed with tunnels. The mountains loomed larger and as we travelled along the edge of Lake Annecy itself,  they rose out of the lake dominating everything.

Getting to our camping ground was interesting.  We drove through a narrow lane where the houses themselves formed walls at the roadside. The sign said, vehicles over 10 meters forbidden.  We are over 12! We just made it! Getting to our camp site involved difficult maneuvering. However, once here, the mountain views are stunning!

Looking forward to tomorrow,  some better weather and getting the bikes out to explore.
