Why am I smiling?
Answer must be that I am a happy wife despite coming second to any car Noel might be racing at the time! Close second!
I tried to retire from the long weekends, sometimes freezing sometimes boiling hot, hanging around waiting for two ten minute segments of each race day when I might catch a glimpse of Noel as he raced past me. Most of the time looking at his backside as he tried to fathom the latest problem with the car or tried to fix it. Sensible wives stay home!
What has changed?
What has brought me back to the circuits is the Gemini Mk3A. The Formula Junior people are great fun although most more senior than junior. Wives are involved so there is usually someone to talk to about something other than cars or to take a sneaky trip somewhere to look at art or shop. We have met people from all over the world and the camaraderie is great .
So I am back to being an aging pit bunny: feeding and watering my husband and making sure he remembers to put fuel in the car in order to finish the race. Occasionally I have been known to help push it and even give it a polish.
After all, its a very cute car with lots of history and has a very good driver! I have little choice really! Now we are off to Goodwood. There is a god after all!
