Last minute prep for Brands Hatch.

Noel has been sorting the trailer and preparing the car for Brands Hatch tomorrow.  There will be over 100 Formula Juniors participating in three grids. The biggest meeting of this class ever!

They are divided into sub - classes: front engine, rear engine disk brakes and rear engine drum brakes (Noel). Only one race per class. They will race on the long circiut;  the GP circiut which used to be the Grand Prix  before Silverstone.  It is a complex circuit.

Relaxing in Kent

Staying with friends. A real bed is hard to get used to. Great food too.

Next day a relaxing visit to Hever Castle. Wonderful history in a castle you can relate to. Beautiful grounds. Good cafe.

Gemini out of hospital.

We picked up the Gemini and trailer from Matt King. All seems well and Noel is happy to have it back.

Goodwood and rain.

Every time we go to Goodwood it seems to rain. Today was no exception.  The rain set in and it quickly became very muddy and slippery. We had a long walk back through mud to the motorhome.  Couldn't  get out. Goodwood is used to this and had a couple of tractors in our field to tow people out. Mercedes, Jaguars, sports cars and us.

More modern cars at Goodwood.

Once again, there were just so many. Everyone had interesting history and owners.

Some of the older cars at Goodwood

It is impossible to show you everything. There were "streets" of marquees full of cars on show. Just when you thought you had seen it all, there were more.

Bonhams Auctions

The auction was over but they still had some wonderful vehicles on display.

Ford

Who can believe Ford can be so exciting? This must be one of the best looking cars around.

Steve McQueen 's car

Ricciardo Minikart

This fabulous kart to kick start a young man's passion for racing.

Mini

Hard to believe this is a Mini! Helen's new car?

Mercedes

Their interiors were superb! These are for Pauline who doesn't like black inside!

McLaren again!

Forgot to put this in.

McLaren

The McLaren road cars look fabulous!  We were lucky to hear an interview with Emerson Fittopaldi and engineer designer Gordon Cuppock with Dennys Hulme's M8D sports car beside them. Fittopaldi talked about "the young Kiwi team" he joined.

McLaren was a large part of the Festival with many well known cars participating and on display.

New cars on display at Goodwood.

Many of the top car manufacturers were represented at Goodwood.  Each with their own pavillion and style.

Most impressive was Land Rover. Several Range Rovers put on a continuous display of cars climbing, crossing, negotiating and swimming. Some seemingly impossible tasks when not all wheels touched the ground.

Motorbikes at Goodwood

We also watched some amazing daredevil stunts on motorbikes.

Goodwood Festival of Speed

This is such an amazing event. You must Google it. Held annually to raise money to keep the estate alive, it started out attracting 2,000 people and now over 300,000 over the weekend . We bought roving grandstand tickets which is really good as you can sit anywhere and watch activities from different locations.
