Beautiful day even though I'm a year older!
Seven and a half hours driving in huge traffic and constant roadworks! Finally near Neuberg which is close to Frankfurt the traffic is better and the rolling hills provide visual relief from the flat.
We arrive at our camping ground and at reception, I am immediately congratulated on my birthday and have my hand shaken by both men.
Our camp site is on the beach of a small man made lake. Not very pretty, under power pylons and lots of young families as neighbours. Doesn't really matter as we won't be here much.
We freshen up in time for Susanne and Peter Knoefel who live nearby, to pick us up and take us home for dinner. It is already 7pm.
We sit outside on their terrace enjoying the tranquility of their garden and drinking the champagne that Noel won in Copenhagen. We had a lovely evening.
Next day, Susanne made a refreshing lunch for us and we sat outside until forced in be severe thunder storms. We went to the local supermarket to stock up the motorhome. When we returned to camp, there was water all around the entrance side and I had left a window open and we have some sodden carpet.
We completed our visit with the Knoefels at their local Italian restaurant. Very pretty building in old barn style, a character of a host who offered us a wonderful menu and would adapt it to our taste. Everything fresh and delicious. Limoncello to finish!
