Louisiana, Denmark.

North of Copenhagen, about half an hour's drive from the city, is the beautiful sculpture garden and art museum called Louisiana. Odd name! Apparently, it used to belong to an aristocrat who had 3 wives (presumably at different times), each one called Louisa.

It straddles the coastline and supports a vast modern art collection. The gardens highlight bold sculptures that fit beautifully into the landscape. However, the eye is constantly drawn to the sea over vast lawns and through tall trees. Magnificent!

To their credit, they do simple but fabulous lunches. Summer and school holiday crowds did not dent the presentation or the service.
