Sights at the Historic Grand Prix Copenhagen

Some observations. Included is my next car! Same colours as my current one: black with tan leather. Meant to be!

Setting up in the paddock in Copenhagen

What a mess! Pouring with rain and deep mud everywhere.

Just getting here was hard enough with lots of roads closed to form the circuit.

We had to deliver the car to the pits, unpack all the tools and fuel because we then had to drop the trailer at the furtherest point in the field. Back to the base to get water and the find the Longdons who had arrived about an hour before. All this on tracks where you couldn't pass another vehicle except by driving in the mud and with everyone trying to do the same.

This huge truck was stuck for a couple of hours, blocking the only route from the paddock to the pits. Total chaos!

The Niborg Bridge, Denmark

We stopped for a mediocre break beside the bridge and then crossed this magnificent structure. Rain and miserable day did little to distract the eye.

We had a lot of difficulty getting to our camping site as it is really at the heart of the city circuit that has been closed to traffic for the weekend. Pouring rain but everyone very helpful.

Chaos on arrival and deep in mud. Hope it improves tomorrow. Jack Nelleman had been to see us and assures us it will improve.

Long road to Denmark!

We left Rotterdam just after 9:30 in the morning. We finally pulled into our campsite, a few minutes over the border in Denmark at 8pm! A very Long, traffic filled day!

There were lots of delays and a huge hour long delay north of Hamburg. Our SATNAV sent us an alternate route, would you believe, direction Berlin for a while! We saved 45 minutes. Sue and Robin weren't so lucky and we stuck for one and a half hours!

By the time we arrived in Denmark, we were all exhausted. Time for a "ready meal", glass of wine and bed.

Rotterdam

We had a good overnight crossing with an excellent dinner in the Brasserie.

8:30 arrival turned into 9:45 by the time we drove off the huge ferry and waited for passport processing.

The port is MEGA! I don't think I've seen one so big, so industrial.

Road to Hull

Terrible traffic around Manchester, but once out of it, an easy drive of two and a half hours and no rain.

Approaching Hull, lots of windmills but much smaller than France, power plants and the Humber Bridge - a very long suspension bridge.

The trailer is not towing as well as it should. Motorhome easy to drive but has a very long overhang at the back that tends to swing wide when turning.

Ready to go.

Pouring rain and none too summery! Finally loaded and organised the trailer, prepared all the paperwork.  The trailer is hooked up and finding the towbar a bit low. All the electrical working. Everything charged.
