Two extra hours on the road to Queenstown.

As we drove through Cromwell on the way to Queenstown, the traffic came to a complete stop. We were told by police that there had been a major accident and the road was closed. We would have to go back to Wanaka and over the Crown Range. This added another two hours to our trip.

The weather turned as we did and we drove through driving rain all the way to Cardrona.

At the top of the Crown Range, the sun came out and lit up the entire valley below.  Stunning! We didn't stop as by then just wanted to be in Queenstown.

What we also saw was a line of traffic at the bottom of the Ranges stretching back as far as the eye could see. Also held up by the accident.
